Golf fan favorites in the US and the UK

Another Ryder Cup is in the books, with the US winning for the first time since 2016, despite some fan favorites absent this year. As the PGA gets underway and the European Tour soon wraps up, we take a look at golf’s most favored players among its fans in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

In the UK, Rory McIlroy (39%) is the most favored golfer among those who follow the sport. In a close second place is Justin Rose (37%), however he didn’t play in the Ryder Cup this year. Lee Westwood (36%), Tommy Fleetwood (32%) and Ian Poulter (30%) make up the remaining top five.

There are a few Americans on our expanded list of favorites in the UK, including Tiger Woods (21%), who is absent from this year’s Cup, as well as Phil Mickelson (15%) and Dustin Johnson (14%).

In the US – without surprise – Woods is on top (39%), followed by Mickelson (37%), Jordan Spieth (27%)Team Europe’s McIlroy (26%) and Rickie Fowler (26%), who wasn’t present at this year’s event.

Other favorites in the US are Dustin Johnson (22%), Brooks Koepka (17%), Justin Thomas (16%), Jason Day (16%) and Sergio Garcia (14%).
