Perceptions on Betting in Australian Sport

The saying “Aussies would bet on two flies crawling up a wall” shows how popular betting is in Australia. However, when it comes to Sports Betting, the opinions remain divided.
In view of this, YouGov has investigated Aussies’ attitudes towards this category and its relationship with sport and sponsorship.
The latest YouGov mini-report shows that more than four in five (82%) of Australian sports fans believe that betting on Australian sports should be allowed, while three in four (75%) Aussies say the same. However, is there anything that the general Australian population or sports fans are calling for around sports betting advertising? Our data also shows that the majority of Australians believe betting brand logos should not appear on team uniforms. Would this affect Aussies’ perceptions towards leagues and teams if they bring on a betting partner while sponsorship can have some influence on driving fans to use their service?
