UK: Boxing Day football fixtures: Who will tune in?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – for football fans. Boxing Day features wall-to-wall football fixtures and fresh YouGov data shows how many Brits are likely to tune in this year.

Survey data shows overall, 22% of British adults say they’re likely to watch football on Boxing Day. More than two in five say it’s unlikely they’ll watch any of it (43%) and three in ten say they never watch the sport (29%).

Those aged 25-34 (26%) and 25-44 (27%) are most likely to tune in to watch at least one fixture, compared to other age groups.

Nearly all Premier League teams will play on Boxing Day except for Manchester United and Newcastle, who will square off on Monday, December 27.

Roughly a quarter of Brits with children living at home (26%) plan to take in a match and are more likely to do so than those without kids (21%).
