Vast majority of Brits say that Premier League footballers should be prepared to take a COVID-19 pay cut

More than nine in ten (92%) of the British people agree that Premier League players should be prepared to take a pay cut during the current Coronavirus outbreak.

With league chiefs and player representatives meeting this week to discuss the issue, more than two-thirds (67%) of Brits believe that any pay cut should represent 50% or more of footballers’ salaries (see chart below). The most popular choice among the public is for a 50% reduction in salary – an option which 30% of respondents chose. Nearly one in ten (9%) believe that Premier League players should be prepared to accept a 100% reduction in salary.
